The Recovery Village Atlanta is a tranquil retreat with a nurturing staff to help people struggling with drugs or alcohol. The suburban, 31,000-square-foot Roswell facility includes 60 beds and a continuum of care services for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders.
According to the Georgia Drug Surveillance Unit, opioid-involved overdose deaths have rapidly increased in the state since 2010. Deaths are primarily rising because of the use and misuse of prescription opioids. Illicit opioids like fentanyl and heroin started to drive overdose death increases beginning in 2013. Also, around 15.7% of people in Georgia reported binge drinking sometime in 2021. Binge drinking is having four or more drinks on one occasion if you’re a female and five or more if you’re a male. Methamphetamine has also become an increasingly misused substance in Georgia, where deaths involving meth have increased yearly since 2010.
Detoxification is the body’s way of slowly removing substances from its system. Medical detox provides around-the-clock medical supervision and treatment as clients withdraw from drugs and alcohol to make the process as safe and comfortable as possible.
Inpatient programs are the most intensive level of care after medical detox. Monitoring is continued, and patients live at the facility full-time with full-day programming, including individual and group therapy, recreational therapies, medical appointments, and support group meetings.
This program is transitional for many patients. It’s a step down from intensive inpatient treatment programs with more independence and accountability for patients. Patients have more free time to direct their own recovery as they transition to life after treatment.
The Recovery Village Atlanta offers evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders that co-occur alongside an addiction for a reduced risk of relapse.
Planning for what will happen after treatment begins as soon as someone arrives for treatment at The Recovery Village Atlanta. Aftercare planning creates a relapse prevention plan and prepares recovery resources for the transition out of treatment and back into daily life to set the stage for success.

Since our treatment programs are customized to your individual needs, the treatment length can differ. Factors in how long addiction treatment takes include the program you choose and the severity of your addiction. Most people’s medical detox stays take 3–10 days. Inpatient programs usually last at least 30 days and outpatient programs can last for three months or longer. Aftercare services are an indefinite source of support for your continued recovery.
Certain national laws protect you if you go to rehab, so you don’t have to fear losing your job. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) are two such laws. While these protections exist, there are limitations that could mean you don’t qualify. If, for example, you use substances actively while at work in a drug-free workplace, you could lose your job.
For the safety and privacy of all patients, cell phones will be securely stored upon arrival. After a 72-hour stabilization period to focus on your recovery, you may make outside phone calls during specified times each week, at your therapist’s discretion. Loved ones may also visit during family weekends, or they may participate in family therapy with you. Our treatment team may discourage contact with friends or family if they believe it could disrupt your recovery and progress.
