All of our inpatient treatment facilities, like The Recovery Village, also offer treatment for co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Treating mental health disorders and substance use disorders at the same time, called dual diagnosis treatment, often leads to better outcomes in recovery.

Individual, Family and Group Therapy

Individual counseling, family counseling and group therapy are options included in inpatient rehab services. When selecting an inpatient rehab near you, understanding which types of behavioral health therapies they offer should be a key factor in deciding if it’s right for you.

The most common forms of therapy include:

Recreational Therapy

In inpatient care, you can access a range of recreational amenities to improve your physical and mental health. Amenities vary by facility but may include yoga or sports activities and more.

These options can serve as an escape or a form of therapy depending on your needs. Many of these activities can also reduce stress and improve mood so you can focus on their recovery. Physical activity plays an important role in the recovery process, so there is always room for recreational therapy.

Benefits of Inpatient Treatment

Advantages of inpatient rehab include a structured environment with access to many services, amenities, skill-building opportunities and support from medical and clinical staff.

How Dual Diagnosis Can Help

Self-medicating a mental health condition with drugs or alcohol may feel like temporary relief, but these substances worsen mental health symptoms over time. If you’re struggling with a mental health disorder and substance abuse, treating both at the same time is vital to a successful recovery.

Many behavioral health facilities can only treat one or the other. Our medical and clinical professionals can treat both, and they’ll help you understand the relationship between your conditions so you feel more prepared to tackle them.

Using Insurance for Mental Health Care

We understand the importance of cost considerations when deciding on an inpatient rehab center. Thankfully, many insurance plans include coverage for behavioral health treatment, helping mitigate expenses. Visit our insurance page to verify your benefits; we work with many major health insurance providers.

FAQs About Our Subacute Mental Health Program

How long is your mental health rehab program?

Your length of stay in an inpatient mental health program is tailored to your unique needs. Generally, patients complete their residential stay within one to two weeks.

It’s crucial to stay in treatment for the full duration to ensure lasting recovery, and we strongly encourage you to do so. However, you have the option to leave the facility at any time, even against medical advice.

Yes, If you’ve completed acute mental health care elsewhere and seek further support before transitioning back to the community, our subacute residential treatment program is available to you.

Your case manager will start planning for your graduation on your first day of treatment. They’ll connect you with outpatient therapy programs and mental health resources in your area, ensuring ongoing access to the support you need.

Our dual diagnosis treatment centers can treat both substance use and mental health disorders simultaneously. During the admission process, our medical team will assess your needs and recommend either the substance abuse track found at all facilities or the mental health track at participating locations.

If substance abuse is your primary need, you’ll undergo medical detox and then enter the inpatient rehab program, living with other people recovering from addiction. Your mental health diagnosis will be addressed within those levels of care.

If mental health is the primary concern, you’ll undergo a medical detox for substance use and then receive additional group therapy sessions about addiction while staying in our mental health wing.

Our inpatient programs all accept health insurance. Your plan may cover some or all of the costs of inpatient rehab. If we do not take your insurance, we may refer you to another treatment facility we trust. Private pay options may be available if you do not have insurance coverage.

The law provides safeguards if you need time off from work for behavioral health reasons. Under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), you can take a leave of absence from work and retain your job while seeking mental health treatment from a healthcare provider. However, it’s important to note that not everyone is eligible for FMLA benefits.

Mental health conditions may impact your capacity to care for your children. Although child custody outcomes are not guaranteed, seeking mental health treatment and achieving successful recovery can enhance your chances of retaining custody. Often, parents arrange for a relative to look after their children while they complete their treatment.
