Nikki Giveans is the esteemed Clinical Director at The Recovery Village Palmer Lake. Her interest in behavioral health care and addiction treatment began as a volunteer at a crisis call center during her undergraduate years. She went on to pursue two master’s degrees in clinical counseling and in substance abuse counseling. Nikki specializes in military and trauma counseling and became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC). She has an additional postgraduate certification in forensic rehabilitation through Auburn University and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
Giveans’ work with the military community began in North Carolina where she worked at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. Following that position, she has worked in Colorado Springs in a psychiatric hospital and her own private practice, in a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane, and supervising a mobile crisis response team. She has also lived and worked overseas as a victim advocate on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense.
The Recovery Village aims to improve the quality of life for people struggling with a substance use or mental health disorder with fact-based content about the nature of behavioral health conditions, treatment options and their related outcomes. We publish material that is researched, cited, edited and reviewed by licensed medical professionals. The information we provide is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It should not be used in place of the advice of your physician or other qualified healthcare provider.
